Who Are We?
Bright Minds is a nonprofit organization providing tutoring, mentoring, and meal programs for disadvantaged elementary and middle school youth in the Chicagoland area. The hallmarks of our program include:
- Re-establishing a sense of individual responsibility through personal realtionships that will give youth the commitment to follow through on the path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment
- Bright Minds will also distribute healthy and nutritious snacks and meals to students on an ongoing-basis to assist with eliminating child hunger.
- Over time, our goal will be to create a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource to young people, aspiring mentors and the community at large.
Strategic Objectives
Bright minds will set up two distinct developmental programs:
Trailblazers
Trailblazers is the central program of Bright Minds. Disadvantaged elementary and middle school students and their mentors participate in a structured program of support and academic development. Students and their mentors partake in an energizing retreat, followed by a structured program that includes tutoring, monthly team-building and group activities. The program ends with a graduation but the mentor and youth remain together if both choose to continue with the program.
Meal Friends
Meal Friends works with children from local elementary schools where we distribute nutritious and healthy snacks and ready-made meals for students to take home. The program lasts for the duration of the school year.
